Newspapers-Shoppers

MPI is the print provider for about 20 area newspapers and shoppers that are published on weekly, bi-weekly or monthly schedules. We are proud that many of these publishers began printing with MPI when the web press was first purchased in the 1970’s and continue to do so today.

MPI produces many newspaper and shopper products in both broadsheet and tabloid formats. Our eleven unit Community Goss web press includes 7 floor units with a four-high stacked unit and two folders.

The press has a maximum count of 18 pages in broadsheet format (36 pages tabloid), a web width range of 24 ½ to 35 inches with both half and quarter folding capabilities.

In addition to a wide range of paper widths, MPI offers uncoated paper choices from 30lb newsprint to 40lb, 50lb and 60lb offset. Papers of specific weights, textures or colors are available upon request.

Optimum print runs range from 500 to 100.000 copies in all web widths and page counts up to the maximum of 18 braodsheet pages.


	Pressman’s Hat These are traditional hats that newspaper pressmen have worn for years.

Start with a newspaper sheet folded to page size. Turn it so the fold is closest to you.

Fold top corners to center.
Fold the remainder of the top sheet in half. Then fold it again, so that the bottom fold comes to the base of the triangle.
Turn the paper over. Fold sides in to center.
Fold in corners of bottom edge.
Fold bottom edge up and tuck under flap.
Fold pointed top down and tuck point under flap.
Open, pulling gently until the opening edges meet in the opposite direction. Crease teh outside edges.
Fold outside corners down and tuck under flap.
Open into hat shape.
